Jays-Rangers Game 2 Recap

It appears as if playing in the Rogers Centre has taken the toll of the Taylor Swift stadium curse. So maybe a game in Arlington will be what the Jays need to stay in this as, T. Swift won't be playing there until October 17.

Now for the recap.

Looks like the Blue Jays have to learn to adapt to American baseball rules.

Troy Tulowitzki tags Rougned Odor but is called "safe".
In Game 2, it all came down to a controversial call when Rougned Odor narrowly took his foot off of 2nd base while Tulowitzki applied the tag. It wasn't enough evidence for the umpires to call him out and so the call went in the Rangers' favour.

Jays fans have a lot to criticize about the calls the umpires made. Right from the get-go, home plate umpire Vic Carapazza was thrown into the thick of it all, without even knowing the area of the strike zone. These calls were almost done intentionally and for the most part, against the Blue Jays' odds. And I'm not saying all the bad calls were against the Jays, because it went both ways, but the inconsistency with the strike zone today seriously took away from the game on the field.

The game lasted a total of 14 innings and really shouldn't have been any longer than a normal game. The called strike calls made by the home plate umpire during the game caught a lot of fans off guard and even got the Jays fired up. And it sucks that the outcome of Major League games are determined by whatever the umpires decide they feel like calling when video evidence does exist, but is rarely used. These are the things that make a sports fan almost lose faith in the sport altogether.

The Jays will take flight to Texas and will look to win 3 straight to keep their playoff hopes alive. Keep in mind, the Jays won three in a row 11 times during the season. If there ever was a time to find a rhythm, this is it.

And if the MLB continues to get what they want, the Blue Jays will be eliminated from the post-season sooner than it takes for Revere to steal a base.
