My Summer Playlist

Alright,

So before I stall on it any longer, here I am back and prepared to give you another music update - an update on the music that's been keeping me alive this summer, and where would I be this summer if I didn't have music or 'we' didn't. If I didn't have anything to keep me going this summer, two words would pretty much sum it up - dull and boring. So we all listen and need our music to keep our spirits alive and set an uplifting mood for the freedom that is our so called summer.

To introduce you to my playlist, you have to be open to all kinds of music (radio mixes included (but in some kind of new surprise)). This playlist, to let you know is the exact playlist I requested to be played on the loud speakers during North Bay's Summer in the Park this past month. Reasonably enough, they were looking for new up and coming artists such as the artists I carried with me on my iPod (as well as some of the great old time summer favourites) with the exception that the music stayed clean of course and made sure it was age appropriate, not only for kids, but for adults as well. With that in mind, I gave them a taste of my music and they approved to play it during certain parts of the day and when the bands weren't preforming on stage.

So here is a taste of the playlist I gave them

*=check them out
  • Slash Ft. Fergie - "Beautiful Dangerous"
  • U2 - "Beautiful Day"
  • *Art Of Fresh - "Campfire Music" -Canadian rap/jazz artists
  • Kelly Rowland Ft. David Guetta - "Commander"
  • H*Wood - "Could It Be You (Punk Rock Chick)"
  • Buck 65 - "Dang"
  • *Mehrzad Marashi - "Don't Believe" -Iranian/German soul/pop artist
  • B.o.B. - "Don't Let Me Fall"
  • *The Glitch Mob - "Drive It Like You Stole It" -Great robot-dance song
  • Owl City - "Fireflies"
  • Drake Ft. Alicia Keys - "Fireworks"
  • Maroon 5 Ft. The Cool Kids - "Harder To Breathe"
  • *N.E.R.D Ft. Nelly Furtado - "Hot-N-Fun" -Song of my summer
  • Dragonette - "I Get Around"
  • Black Eyed Peas - "I Gotta Feeling"
  • *David Usher - "Kill The Lights" -Preformed live, so why not?
  • Ida Corr vs. Fedde le Grand - "Let Me Think About It"
  • Far East Movement Ft. The Cataracs & Dev - "Like A G6" -A club hit
  • *Travie McCoy - "Need You" -I could listen to this track all day & night
  • *Jay-Z Ft. Drake - "Off That" -smooth rap track, with Tim's on beat = awesome
  • *Sharam Ft. Kid Cudi - "She Came Along" -Great western rap
  • Michael Franti & Spearhead - "Sound Of Sunshine"
  • Len - "Steal My Sunshine" -Play this track no matter what every summer
  • Brian Adams - "Summer Of '69"
  • *Bloc Party - "Sunday" -I would play this every single summer night
  • The Rolling Stones Ft. The Neptunes - "Sympathy For The Devil (Neptunes Remix)"
  • Nickelback - "This Afternoon"
  • Kid Cudi - "Up Up & Away"
  • Kevin Rudolf Ft. Kid Cudi - "Welcome To The World"
  • Down With Webster - "Whoa Is Me"
And what a thrill it was to be working/volunteering, not only for an awesome event, but for the greatest event North Bay has to offer all year. And to be hearing the music you chose coming out of the loud speakers playing throughout the park, well that was just the soundtrack to my summer. And that was the moment of the summer I would never forget because it was really cool. So now, my advice is to enjoy the summer while you still can because when we go back to school this September, we will be trapped indoors until Christmas (the winter season need I remind you).

Anyways, 'till my next update,

-Drew ;)
