The Brightest of the Summers

What can I say?

It's been a while since my last post, but I think for once I can finally sit down and clear my mind. Hows it going? Is you're summer going well?

Well for me, it's been rather exciting and exhausting. Almost a summer that I could've never ever predicted. And I think ever since it begun, the experience blossomed into something remarkable. And to think, I've done so little this summer, yet it felt like so much. Back in Toronto, I went to sleepovers, I slept out on my back deck a few times, hell I even got a heated pool in the backyard just before I left (only used it once for 20 mins.) But I now believe that the hardest thing to do before going to college is saying goodbye to your friends you knew for so long which is really tough to do on the spot. Especially when you only got a day to spend with 'em. But that day on the beach and my face that turned bright red...well it speaks for itself. But you know I will miss you guys, as you are all down there, and I'm up here, yet when you look on a map, we're only a couple centimeters away.

You see, I graduated high school two months ago and I guess you could say I'm a step away from the real world and I keep thinking that I'm ready for all of it and for the most part, I believe that I am. So I say bring it on, bring on the worst that life has to offer, because these past two weeks, I've really learned a lot about myself and the man that I'm becoming. I've had a lot of cool and emotional rides and experiences that I can look back on and become proud of. The weekend at the cottage sure helped me change my overview of my future. I really opened up on my social life and connection with my aunt and my friends. But now I sort of know what I can hope for, what I will be willing to achieve and what challenges I may face. I'm prepared now for whatever life has to throw at me. So bring it on I tell 'em. Now I'm not trying to say that in a selfish arrogant kind of manner, but of course after all, I'm still becoming a man.

I left Toronto last week to reside in the beautiful north of the bay where I have some history, I have my RV and will now be my so-called home for the next three years. I'm up here to study in the field of journalism and hoping to become one of the top journalists Ontario has. Sure my name will be up there but I can already see that it won't be as popular as those currently out there. But my home away from home looks so amazing. I saw where I'll be living for the next three years and it truly amazed me. Getting to know the city is what I'm all about, and you can't know a city without getting to know the people - that's where the journalism comes in.

So now, I'm sitting with my laptop, in my RV eating Tek's fish n' chips (mighty tasty) and typing this as I go. But this is my life now, and I couldn't be any happier. I like it. In the near future, I promise to make a few videos, or if you would like to call 'em, viral videos for some entertainment, and I'll post them on my YouTube account; but for now, go to my twitter account and check out some pics I took earlier today from the big storm we had up here, and at first I thought it wasn't that bad, you know like nothing was going to happen. But sure enough, I ride around the city and what do you know...trees are knocked down, power lines are down, in fact the power was off for three hours because of the huge lightning strike I heard which sounded like it came directly from the other side of the trailer park, knocking down the power lines. Luckily, hydro came faster than the rain that was pouring and regrouped it back to normal.

Aside from that, life up here ain't that bad. I have the occasional movie when weathers bad, I'm stocked up on all kinds of food and snacks, I got my one mode of transportation (a new bike I found at a yard sale) and I got the beach and the sun right at my doorstep. What more can I ask for? Oh yeah...you guys of course. (I have to thank my mom for letting me use the laptop for making this possible).

Anyways, I'm sure you'll keep in contact (if you really have to), plus I'm sure to have a new email address and street address in the coming weeks, but until then, I'll do my best to write daily on twitter, and blog monthly here.

Well, until you hear from me,

-Drew
